What Does the Maths Tutor do?
What Does the Maths Tutor do?An English Language tutor is a professional who has a degree in a specific subject or area and has completed a one to four year course. A tutor may also have received an alternative qualification for teaching. Many of these courses will be in a particular subject, which will come in handy when the student comes for further education and the course is in the language of the country they live in.The tutor is usually trained in the classroom, so when it comes to teaching the students, they are experienced and most likely have first hand experience with the rules of the classroom. This means that they have a sound understanding of how the whole procedure goes and what type of messages they should convey to the students. They must also be a good communicator and be able to make sure that the students understand everything. It is the job of the tutor to give the students the advice and education they need. One of the jobs of a tutor is to keep track of the other students and to ensure that all the students are in a class for the required time. In the beginning, this may sound like a very hard job, but one thing the tutor must keep in mind is that the student has to learn new things every day. The tutor needs to keep the pace and ensure that the student is not kept behind because of the teacher who takes too long to teach. The good news is that the tutor can usually keep their job when a student does not have a fixed timetable, but must still do the lesson. The tutor will help with many different things, from writing letters to the students to taking part in other activities like asking them to write essays. The tutor will also help the students when it comes to testing, as this is a very important step in learning. When tests are needed, it is essential that the student is able to pass the tests without much difficulty. When tests are to be taken, a tutor is always there to help with the test papers and answers. The tutor can help in any wa y they can, whether it is answering questions in a lesson or with the written assignments.Lessons are usually held once a week. The tutor can help the students with their assignments during lessons and will also explain them to the students. As a tutor, they will be the one who will work on the tests and instructions and will also find out what the student has learned from the exams. This is a great time for the students to get their homework finished and ready for the exams to come. For the students, being tested is the way to know whether they are getting a good grade or not.Tutors are very popular nowadays because of the increase in the number of students who are studying and those who are on their way to going to college. It is extremely important for them to have knowledge and experience, as the skills learnt in the classroom cannot be transferred to the exams. Some students need the tutor to have knowledge of a certain subject. They want to know that the tutor knows their subj ect, and they are not wasting their time. These tutors are available for people with an English language qualification, as this is the main topic of study at universities today. Teachers who teach in schools and colleges also use tutors, but their level of knowledge is slightly lower than the tutor's. The tutor is a great option for someone looking for an alternative way to learn and it should not be taken lightly, as the education one gets is invaluable.

Italian Grammar Exploring Cognates and False Cognates
Italian Grammar Exploring Cognates and False Cognates Suzy S. Italian grammar can be a tough thing for beginners to master. Below, Italian teacher Giulio G. gives a brief lesson in recognizing Italian cognates and false cognates Although English and Italian belong to two different language families, they have lexis similarities. In fact, it is estimated that around 30 percent of the English vocabulary comes from Romance and Latin sources. Its for this exact reason why it is possible to find many cognatesor words that sound or are spelled the same or in a similar waybetween English and Italian. Learning these cognates can help you improve your Italian grammar as well as expand your vocabulary. Below is list of Italian cognates broken down into several different categories. 1. Words that are different due to the final letter Acrobata-Acrobat Altare-Altar Concerto-Concert Errore-Error Dollaro-Dollar Moderno-Modern Problema-Problem Poeta-Poet 2. Words that have a different vowel at the end Cura-Cure Futuro-Future Minuto-Minute Nativo-Native Paradiso-Paradise Senso-Sense Temperatura-Temperature Universo-Universe 3. Words that end in â"ale in Italian and end in â"al in English Accidentale-Accidental Artificiale-Artificial Canale-Canal Finale-Final Naturale-Natural Originale-Original Vitale-Vital 4. Words that end in â"bile in Italian and end in â"ble in English Adorabile-Adorable Impossibile-Impossible Miserabile-Miserable Terribile-Terrible Responsabile-Responsible 5. Words that end in â"ente/-ante in Italian and end in â"ent/-ant in English Diligente-Diligent Ingrediente-Ingredient Recente-Recent Eloquente-Eloquent Tollerante-Tolerant 6. Words that end in â"ia in Italian and end in â"y in English Archeologia-Archaeology Democrazia-Democracy Lotteria-Lottery Melodia-Melody Sinfonia-Symphony As any Italian teacher will tell you, its important to be careful with cognates. Languages can sometimes be tricky and also present false cognateswords that look similar between two languages but have different meanings. Below are a list of common Italian false cognates. Candido-clean Crudo uncooked Genitori-parents Magazzino-store Assistere-to be present Attendere-to wait for Confrontare to compare Intendere- to understand Tastare to touch Avviso warning Attico penthouse Estate-summer Firma-signature Pace-Peace When beginning to learn Italian grammar, its important to familiarize yourself with these cognates and false cognates. This way, you will be able to avoid making an embarrassing mistake when speaking with a native Italian. Unfortunately, theres no easy way to remember Italian cognates and false cognates; rather youre best bet is to try to memorize these words by using them as often as possible or playing Italian grammar exercises. Slope Definition Math
Slope Definition Math Slope is calculated by the change of y axis co-ordinates over the change in x axis co-ordinates. Slope is defined as rise over run. Slope of a straight line gives the orientation of the line with respect to the co-ordinate axes. The slope of a line is the same for all the points on the straight line. The slope of the line is used in different formulas such as slope intercept form, slope point form etc. which help in writing the equation of the straight lines. Example 1: Find the slope of the straight line passing through the two points (2, 3) and (9, - 4)? Solution: Given are the two points (2, 3) and (9, - 4) from a straight line. Slope = change in y coordinates / change in the x coordinates. Here for the given two points slope = (-4 (3)) / (9 (2)) = -4-3/ 9-2. Slope = -7/ -7 = 7/7. Simplifying slope = 1/1 Hence slope of the straight line passing through the given points = 1. Example 2: Find the slope of the straight line passing through the two points (5, 6) and (8, 7)? Solution: Given are the two points (5, 6) and (8, 7) from a straight line. Slope = change in y coordinates / change in the x coordinates. Here for the given two points slope = (7 (6)) / (8 (5)) = 7 - 6 / 8 5 = 1/3. Hence slope of the straight line passing through the given points = 1/3.

How To Solve For y
How To Solve For y Lets take an algebraic equation to show the steps to solve for y. Example 1: - Solve the equation 2 y + 9 = 10 for y. Solution: - 2 y + 9 = 10 (1) Instruction Solution Try to free the L.H.S. from the constant. So subtract 9 to both sides of the equation (1). (2y + 9) 9 = 10 9 2 y = 1 (2) Remove the coefficient of y. Therefore divide both sides by two of equation (2) 2 y / 2 = 1 /2 y = 1 / 2 Therefore y = Question 2:- If 4 y + 2 = 6 y 3, find the value of y. Solution: - 4 y + 2 = 6 y 3 (1) Instruction Solution Try to free the L.H.S. from the constant. So subtract 2 to both sides of the equation (1) (4 y + 2) 2 = (6 y 3) 2 Or, 4 y + 2 2 = 6 y 3 2 Or, 4 y = 6 y 5 (2) Try to free the R.H.S. from the variable i.e., y. Therefore subtract 6y to both sides of the equation. 4 y 6y = (6 y 5) 6y -2 y = - 5 (3) Remove the coefficient of y. Therefore divide both sides by - 2 of equation (3) -2y / - 2 = - 5 / - 2 y = 5 / 2 Therefore y = 5/2

Congratulations! 96% of Heart Students Meet Growth Goals
Congratulations! 96% of Heart Students Meet Growth Goals Congratulations, Heart Students and Tutors! 96% Meet Growth Goals Congratulations, Heart Students and Tutors! 96% Meet Growth Goals June 19, 2015 By Emily Elliott, Executive Director With school wrapping up and students away for the summer, we want to reflect on and celebrate what has been accomplished by Heartâs 236 students, with the help of their tutors, this year. Students are enrolled in Heart based on the recommendation of their teachers. Typically, these students are one to two years below grade level in math and are missing foundational math concepts (counting, more vs. less, base-ten, place value). These concepts form the building blocks of understanding how numbers work. Research shows that gaps in any one of these concepts can prevent student growth and cause them to fall further and further behind. Gaps in these foundational concepts become especially apparent in higher levels of math. They can ultimately be gatekeepers to high school graduation, post-secondary education, and employment. At the beginning of the year, each Heart student goes through a 30-minute, one-on-one, research-based assessment â" âcount this⦠explain this⦠compare thisâ¦â â" diagnosing which specific building block concepts are weak or missing. Students take the same assessment at the end of the year. Here is the cause for celebration: At the beginning of the year, Heart students showed mastery in 678 building block skills, collectively, or 32% of the building block skills needed, based on grade level standards. At the end of the year, after 4,248 hours of volunteer-delivered, one-on-one instruction, Heart students showed mastery in 1,311 building block skills, or 63% of the total needed â" an increase of 31% towards closing the gap for meeting grade level standards. If a student can show growth in two or more of the building block skills, meaningful growth has been accomplished, according to our advisors at UNC Charlotte and in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Elementary Math Department. This is our program goal. This past year, 96% of Heart students met this program goal, growing in two or more building block concept areas. On average, students grew in 4.3 concept areas. Newfound skills, combined with the boost in confidence that comes from having a personal tutor, can be an extremely powerful formula. Heart students, tutors, and staff measure and celebrate the growth throughout the year. The icing on the cake comes in May with an excited text from a third grade teacher â" âEOG scores are in! My Heart students did amazingly!â or from a student herself, telling her tutor at fifth grade graduation â" âI passed!â Thank you to each and every one of the 265 volunteers who came week after week to act as cheerleaders and guides, making a tremendous difference to our inspiring students who are finding out they are not âbadâ at math after all.
